Utah Utes

Quarterback Cam Rising is still out but Utah managed to get the job done nonetheless and comes into this game against Oregon State with a 3-0 record.

Karene Reid returned an interception for a touchdown and Landen King had a TD catch for No. 11 Utah, which used a stifling defensive performance to beat No. 22 UCLA 14-7 with Rising still sidelined on Saturday.

“What adjective is better than great? That’s what our defensive effort was,” said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, a longtime defensive coordinator who is known to adore low-scoring games. “Tremendous performance by so many defensive players.”

Oregon State Beavers

Oregon State suffered their first loss of the season last week against Washington State, 38-35.

Oregon State’s DJ Uiagalelei tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jack Velling with 1:12 left to pull the Beavers within 38-35. The Cougars (4-0, 1-0) recovered the ensuing onside kick after a mad scramble for the ball, and once the final snap was taken, fans rushed the field like they did after Washington State beat Wisconsin two weeks ago.
