Bet the Oakland Golden Grizzlies From California

NC State will be a -5.5 favorite as they take on the giant killers Oakland on Saturday in the 2nd round.

Ahead of the first round game, ESPN.com had written of the Golden Grizzlies:

"Oakland punched its ticket with an 83-76 win over Milwaukee in the Horizon League title game, powered by Trey Townsend (38 points, 11 boards), the 2024 conference player of the year. Townsend (16.9 PPG) is clearly Oakland's go-to guy but Blake Lampman (13.2 PPG), Jack Gohlke (12.2 PPG) and Chris Conway (10.1 PPG) can score too."

ESPN had also noted that Oakland already beat top-ranked programs including Xavier while losing by single digits to Illinois, Drake and Ohio State.

The 14th-seeded Golden Grizzlies delivered the first true shock of this year’s March Madness, beating the third-seeded Wildcats 80-76.

“We’ve been a solid team all year,” Oakland senior Jack Gohlke said. “We’ve won close games all year.”

As the Horizon League Sixth Man of the Year, Gohlke helped Oakland secure its first NCAA Tournament bid since 2011.

Oakland Grizzlies Player Props

Oakland coah Greg Kampe affectionately said of Gohlke that he 'looks like a linebacker'.  He would go on to score 32 points and made 10 3-pointers.  Gohlke's scoring total was set at an Over/Under 11.5 for this game.

His performance saw him become only the fifth player in NCAA tournament history to make 10 or more 3-pointers in a game, scoring his career-high 32 points.

Horizon League Player of the Year Trey Townsend scored 17 points for Oakland, a half point below his posted total of 17.5 . DQ Cole added 12.  Cole had a total Over/Under listed at 9.5 coming into this game.

Oakland never trailed beyond the 14:32 mark of the second half and once again the Wildcats and coach John Calipari were sent packing in an early exit.
