Sir Alex Ferguson has given a clear indication that he expects Cristiano Ronaldo to remain at Manchester United next season and has also implied that he expects to make only one signing this summer, according to the Telegraph.

While Furguson didn't answer direct questions about Ronaldo's future he did say: Ferguson said: "It's going to be a big season, but we have a good team and there is still some development to come in the squad.

"We have some young players who did very well for periods last season, but at times they showed their youthfulness by being inconsistent.

"Those young players will come on a bundle now, though, and winning the European Cup and the league can only help us. The likes of Anderson, Nani, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo will emerge from that, without doubt, and be really top players for us."
