As noted in a previous article, this week all eyes should be on the St. Louis Cardinals.

Why?

Tristan H. Cockcroft notes that those pitchers facing St. Louis during Week 2 have struggled in the past.

Yovani Gallardo of the Milwaukee Brewers has just a single win, five quality starts, a 6.72 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP in 14 career starts against St. Louis.  Gallardo is expected to face the Cards some time later in the week.

Monday’s starter for the Cincinnati Reds, Matt Latos, is just 1-7 in quality starts against St. Louis with a 9.00 ERA.

Tuesday’s starter, Bronson Arroyo, is 16-31 against the Cardinals with a 4.56 ERA.

Wednesday’s starting pitcher, Homer Bailey, is just 5 for 13 vs. St. Louis with a 5.00 ERA.

The Cardinals should also be getting back David Freese at some point later in the week.

Cockcroft also hones in on Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Mets players are a combined .184/.215/.264 lifetime hitters with a 1.5 percent walk and 30.0 percent strikeout rate against Halladay.  Ouch!

The Angels-Rangers game Sunday night April 7 has OVER written all over it.  The total on this game was 8.5.

Here’s what we like:

The Over is 10-2-2 in LAA last 14 overall.

The Over is 10-2-2 in LAA last 14 on grass.

The Over is 5-1-2 in LAA last 8 games following a win.

The Over is 6-2 in TEX last 8 home games.

The Over is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Texas.
