You can bet the Reds-Pirates series this weekend with Pittsburgh coming in as a -149 home favorite, Cincinnati at +125 and the total at 7.5.

Cincinnati enters this series 19-41 in their last 60 road games though they have been playing much better of late, winning six of their last ten games overall.  Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has won only two of their last eight games overall.

This series tends to trend UNDER with seven of the last ten resulting in six or fewer runs.

FRIDAY’S GAME ONE PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Anthony DeSclafani (6-0, 2.93 ERA) vs. Pirates RH Jameson Taillon (2-2, 3.52)

DeSclafani pitched six innings, allowing one run, four hits and two walks while striking out six Saturday against the Padres. He did not factor in the decision. (Sat Jul 30).  This marked the seventh time in his last eight starts that DeSclafani has permitted three runs or fewer.

He made four starts versus the Pirates last season, posting a 1-1 record and 2.59 ERA.

Taillon recorded his fourth consecutive quality start but suffered a tough-luck loss at Milwaukee, giving up a pair of runs and six hits over six innings.

With the Pirates 1-6 in their last 7 games vs. a right-handed starter and two solid starters coming off no-decisions in their last outings along with the  head-to-head matchups of late trending UNDER, we will be on the UNDER 7.5 here.
