The first line on this game had Chicago at -140 and Detroit at +127 with a total of 10. Mike Pelfrey will start for the Tigers and James Shields will start for the White Sox.

The total shouldn’t surprise anyone.  Four of the last six in this series have gone into double digits.

That being said, Shields has been pretty solid of late, allowing just six runs in close to 28 innings pitched his last four starts.  He’ll also enter this game with his team having lost his last two starts.

Detroit’s Mike Pelfrey is just 2-9 in the series with a 4.95 ERA this season.  Though he gave up five runs his last start, Pelfrey had only permitted two runs in twelve innings his previous two starts.

Pelfrey has struggled versus the White Sox, allowing 36 hits on 117 at bats but zero home runs!

Half of the last ten games for each of these pitchers has stayed UNDER the current total of 10 and we like those odds happening here with two average starters hungry for a win.

TAKE THE TIGERS-WHITE SOX UNDER 10 THURSDAY

Expect this series to possibly revert back to the OVER come though we probably won’t be touching it.

Jose Quintana has the third highest average against the opposing lineup in this weekend’s series (.360), allowing 68 hits on 189 at bats and the highest number of RBIs at 19.  He’ll start on Sunday.
