MLB Early Season Bookie Tips: SU Betting Stats for April

The MLB season has just begun.  While it’s tough to predict the top teams so early in the game, history can show you which teams to bank on, and which ones to avoid when making straight-up bets, or teams to build parlay cards with.

Here’s a look at some of the teams who have done well for SU wagers in April, and others to avoid when making your wagers this month.

When it comes to win-loss records, the St. Louis Cardinals have been the pacesetters during the month of April. For the previous five Aprils combined, the Redbirds have been 74-49 in SU bets. They posted the best record in April 2015, with a 15-6 mark.

It’s important to pick your spots to find value when backing the Cardinals. You can also add them to parlay cards, as they will be one of the teams listed as favourites for most of their games.

The Colorado Rockies have also been a surprisingly good SU wager in the early stages of the season in the last few years. In 2015, the Rox went 11-10, and have the fourth-best SU in the bigs over the last five seasons in April ball games with a 71-52 (57.7 percent) mark.

It’s no surprise that when it comes to fade material, the San Diego Padres have the worst SU record in April over the last five seasons. Since 2011, the Friars have only gone 49-78, with a winning percentage of only 38.6.

Last season, the Milwaukee Brewers had the slowest start out of the gate, with a 5-17 mark. As there is no reason to think they will do better this season, they look to be prime fade material for 2016.
