PPH Baseball Betting – Odd on Who Will Be Getting Price

The All-Star break is a time when a lot of teams contemplate how they are going to handle themselves for the rest of the season. With one additional wild card spot open in each league, there is more for teams to think about, because of the fact that there are more teams in contention. In fact, there are very few clubs who can consider themselves out of the running.

What does this mean, as far as WagerHome.com PPH bettors are concerned? Well, there may be more motivation on the part of teams to make a game-changing deal in time for the July 31 trade deadline, or any deal at all.

One of the pitchers who was named to the American League team (though he is not active, since he pitched Sunday)  is Tampa Bay left-hander David Price. He's not having his best season, but he did win the Cy Young a couple of years ago and he currently leads the major leagues in strikeouts. The Rays will have a difficult time getting back into the playoff race (nine games out of a wild card), and baseball bettors know that they are going to have a harder time paying Price after he becomes a free agent at the conclusion of the 2015 campaign, when he is set to pocket $20 million. So he is on the trading block, and what's more, he knows it.

It just so happens that one team that is among the most well-heeled is in need of a boost in the starting rotation - in the worst way.

The New York Yankees, who are not necessarily listed among the favorites in MLB betting at WagerHome.com to win the World Series, have had the severe misfortune of losing almost all their starting rotation. CC Sabathia's knee injury, and the swelling that occurred in a minor league rehab start, have promoted concerns that he is through for the season. Ivan Nova was already gone after Tommy John surgery. Michael Pineda is scheduled to work bullpens and may be back in a month. Now Masahiro Tanaka, the guy who was literally holding everything together with his Cy Young-worthy season, is out with an elbow injury, and even though the Yankees are optimistic he is going to return at some point, it will have to be with the help of a rehab program that is being implemented as an alternative to surgery.

The bottom line with the Yankees is that they have spots wide open in the rotation, and those spots must be filled. And WagerHome.com PPH customers know full well that if they want to contend for some spot in the post-season (after all, they are only five games behind Baltimore in the AL East and 3.5 games out of a wild card slot), they probably can't continue relying on the likes of Shane Greene, Chase Whitley, David Phelps or newly-acquired Brandon McCarthy.

Price would be most welcome, and surely the Yankees can put something together to satisfy the Rays in terms of prospects. They can afford the next contract Price is going to sign. The big question is whether Tampa Bay would make a deal like this with a division rival. If they could find an alternative way to go, they would most certainly explore it.

If not, who is a possible suitor? The Los Angeles Dodgers, who were a WagerHome.com favorite in the baseball props at season's start? Maybe. They have so much money available. But don't be surprised if the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners or even the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (who also want All-Star Huston Street) position themselves for his services.

Yes, it's an arms race alright.
