Clippers vs. Trailblazers Betting Line

The Clippers vs. Trailblazers betting line was available at Sportsbook.ag.  Line (Subject to Change): Portland -2.5, Total: 210.5

The Clippers head to Portland on Wednesday and face a Blazers team that will be going for its fifth straight victory.

The Clippers hosted the Warriors on Tuesday night and lost 110-106 as 3.5-point favorites. The team had won seven straight games before the loss and is still playing very well. The offense has been outstanding recently, averaging 113.0 PPG over the past seven contests.

The Blazers, meanwhile, faced the Suns in Portland on Monday and won 109-86 as 8.5-point favorites. Portland has won four straight games SU, covering in three of those wins. The defense has been outstanding in that span, allowing less than 90 points in three of the past four contests. The Blazers will need to continue to play well on both ends of the floor moving forward, as they can be a little too one dimensional at times.

These teams have met three times this season and the Clippers are 2-1 SU but 1-2 ATS in those games. The Clippers only cover did come in Portland when they won 100-94 on Jan. 14. The Blazers are a miserable 1-12 ATS in home games in April over the past three seasons, while the Clippers are 5-17 ATS in road games after leading their past three games by five or more points at the half since 1996. SG Jamal Crawford (Calf) is out indefinitely for the Clippers and SG Wes Matthews (Achilles) is out for the season for the Blazers.

The Clippers are coming off of a loss to the Warriors but the team is still playing very well as of late. PG Chris Paul (18.9 PPG, 10.1 APG, 4.6 RPG, 1.9 SPG) has made a late push for MVP, as he’s played remarkably in the second half of the season. Over the past five games, Paul is averaging 21.4 PPG, 10.6 APG, 3.6 RPG and 2.4 SPG in 34.0 MPG. Paul has torched the Blazers this season, averaging 27.0 PPG, 11.0 APG and 5.3 RPG in three meetings with the team. He’ll need to continue to attack Damian Lillard on Wednesday.

PF Blake Griffin (22.1 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 5.1 APG, 1.0 SPG) played one of his best games of the season in the loss to Golden State, putting up 40 points and also adding 12 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and a steal in 43 minutes of action. He’ll need to bring the same intensity against LaMarcus Aldridge on Wednesday.

C DeAndre Jordan (11.3 PPG, 14.8 RPG, 2.2 BPG, 1.0 SPG) will need to give Griffin a lot of help around the rim in this one. Jordan has to protect the rim and Aldridge will definitely give Griffin some trouble. The center blocked three shots against Golden State and will likely need a similar type of performance against the Blazers. Jordan has not had a game with less than 10 rebounds since Feb. 6.

SG J.J. Redick (16.0 PPG) is shooting 48% from the outside over the past five games. He has been great against Portland this season, averaging 21.0 PPG in three meetings with the team. He’ll need to come up big in this one on Wednesday.

The Blazers have won four straight games and PF LaMarcus Aldridge (23.5 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 1.0 BPG) has played very well recently. Aldridge is averaging 24.5 PPG over the past two games and gets to face a Clippers team that he is very familiar with. Aldridge has dominated the Clips this season, averaging 29.0 PPG and 10.3 RPG in three meetings with the team. Portland will definitely try to take advantage of his size advantage over Blake Griffin in the post.

PG Damian Lillard (21.0 PPG, 6.3 APG, 4.8 RPG, 1.3 SPG) has struggled against the Clippers this season, averaging just 15.0 PPG and 5.3 APG on 35% shooting from the field in three meetings. He has played some lazy defense on Chris Paul and will need to come out with a much better performance on Wednesday.

SF Nicolas Batum (9.5 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 4.8 APG, 1.1 SPG) has played well over the past two games, averaging 15.5 PPG and 6.0 APG in 32.5 MPG. The Clippers are weak at the small forward position and Batum should really be able to do some damage in this contest.

One very good sign for this Blazers team is that SG Arron Afflalo (13.6 PPG, 3.2 RPG) is getting more comfortable in the offense, averaging 18.5 PPG over the past two contests. He is 14-for-22 from the field in those games and will need to shoot the ball well against Los Angeles. He’ll also have to step it up on defense against the red-hot J.J. Redick.
