How Are Fantasy Points Calculated for the NBA?

When you select an NBA player for your Fantasy roster, it’s not just about how much that individual scores in a given game, also calculated are the number of rebounds, assists and more.

You will often see mention of Fantasy Points and realize that number is much higher than the actual points scored.  A rebound is equivalent to +1.25 points at DraftKings.  An assist is equivalent to +1.50 points while a steal is equal to +2 points.  In other words, your player doesn’t necessarily have to get a lot of baskets if he’s got a ton of assists, rebounds and steals.

Below is the typical Fantasy Points calculation formula found at most sites:

  • Point = +1 PT
  • Made 3pt. shot = +0.5 PTs
  • Rebound = +1.25 PTs
  • Assist = +1.5 PTs
  • Steal = +2 PTs
  • Block = +2 PTs
  • Turnover = -0.5 PTs
  • Double-Double = +1.5PTs (MAX 1 PER PLAYER: Points, Rebounds, Assists, Blocks, Steals)
  • Triple-Double = +3PTs (MAX 1 PER PLAYER: Points, Rebounds, Assists, Blocks, Steals)
