UNC was a -10.5 favorite with a four-point overlay in this game, especially in light of the fact that the number 14 Tar Heels are playing their third game in five days, a grueling stretch that has included victories against two neighboring rivals.  This will be the first time North Carolina has had three ACC regular-season games scheduled in a five-day period since 1980.

"Got to be ready," coach Roy Williams said, figuring there was no use bemoaning the assigned schedule.

Notre Dame (15-10, 5-7) has followed a seven-game losing streak with a two-game winning streak, defeating Boston College and Florida State at home.

Senior point guard Matt Farrell returned from an ankle injury to play in the last game.

While UNC has won the last four in this series, the Irish would have covered using the current spread.
