Sure, much of the online gambling film “Runner, Runner” is a fictitious account of what really occurs in the mysterious multi-billion dollar industry.  Set in the real world online gambling Mecca of San Jose, Costa Rica but filmed almost entirely in Puerto Rico, “Runner, Runner” goes a bit overboard in its depiction of the Web gambling world (literally in some cases).

‘Runner, Runner’ Reviews Are All In: ‘Uncompelling, Sketchy, Charmless, Limp’

The reviews are in for the online gambling thriller “Runner, Runner” and they aren’t very good.  In fact, to date, just 20 percent of critics at movie review aggregator site RottenTomatoes.com have given the film a thumb’s up.  Audience reviews were equally as harsh, though somewhat limited.

The production value on “Money Talks” didn’t disappoint.  The rest of the CNBC Prime new program seemed more staged than reality television, however (as if reality television is really real to begin with).

PR Agency Exec Ronn Torossian: ‘Runner, Runner Won’t be Good for Industry’

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that “Runner, Runner” which will be in movie theatres worldwide in a month staring Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck won’t bring  good news for the off-shore gambling business.  The movie, which was produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, and written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien purports to show the insides of Costa Rica and the online gambling business.

Poker Pro Dan Bilzerian Sues ‘Lone Survivor’ Producers for Reduced Acting Role

Colorful poker pro Dan Bilzerian is suing producers of the upcoming film “Lone Survivor”, claiming he loaned the project $1 million in exchange for at least eight minutes of screen time and 80 words of dialogue.  Instead, he got less than one minute and one line.

Producer Peter Berg is named in the suit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

It remains to be seen how true to form the film actually is.  “Runner Runner” does take place in “a remote island location”, though most of the location shooting occurred in Puerto Rico.

South Carolina Bookie Brett Parker Murder Case to Be Featured on ‘Dateline’

This Friday (July 26, 2013), ‘Dateline’ on NBC will feature a segment on South Carolina bookie Brett Parker entitled “Mystery at Ascot Estates”.

The show, which will air at 9 pm EST, features interviews with friends and associates of Parker’s wife, Tammy Jo Parker.  Brett is currently serving a life sentence for shooting to death Tammy Jo and a sports betting clerk, Bryan Capnerhurst.

ESPN 2013 World Series of Poker Schedule Released

ESPN has unveiled its 2013 World Series of Poker broadcast schedule, which kicked off Tuesday night (July 23).

ESPN’s coverage will be broadcast Tuesday nights in two hour blocks from July 23 right through October 29.  Airings will start at 9 pm EST.

Norman Chad and Lon McEachern will call the action.

Kate Middleton has given birth.  The baby is a boy!

That announcement essentially canceled out the favorite among baby names, which was Alexandra.
