Ben Roethlisberger a ‘Weak Link’ on Path to Super Bowl? Latest Super Bowl Odds

The Pittsburgh Steelers odds of winning Super Bowl 51 were set at 4-1 but some pundits are suggesting they can’t win with starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at the helm, this despite the fact that he has already won two Super Bowls.

Dieter Kurtenbach of Fox News writes:

There’s no nice way to say this — he’s been the weak link in the Steelers’ offense in the second half of this season.

This isn’t to say that Roethlisberger had a bad year — far from it. A dozen teams would line up to get the production he gave Pittsburgh this year. But Roethlisberger hasn’t performed like Big Ben this year — his Pro Football Focus rating fell from 93.5 to 80.5 year-over-year — and with another trip to the Super Bowl on the line and Tom Brady standing in the way, he will need to rectify that problem Sunday against the Patriots.

Kurtenbach does acknowledge that if Roethlisberger does play like his vintage self and the Steelers improved defense has the ability to contain Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Pittsburgh should be on its way to another Super Bowl with a win in that game paying $400 for every $100 bet if the wager is placed now.
