Can the Detroit Lions Win This Week Against The Redskins?

The big question on everybody's mind:  Can the Detroit Lions finally win one this week?  They play the suspect Washington Redskins at home.  And to be fair, the Lions were pitted against what could be the very best team in the league during Week 1, the New Orleans Saints.  They actually held in there pretty good for a while.  Last week, Detroit went up against another 2-0 team, the Minnesota Vikings.

While the Redskins are not looking entirely impressive, they have won three in a row over Detroit and owns a commanding 30-10 overall series lead, including the playoffs.  The home team has won the last 8 in this series however. 

Herein lies the problem for the Redskins: Washington's head coach has come under fire for his play calling. The team has scored only one offensive touchdown this season and was booed off the home field after a win in Week 2. Under Zorn, the Redskins have averaged only 16 points over 18 games, and he will be feeling the pressure to produce against Detroit's league-worst scoring defense.

Nor is Detroit out of the woods: The No. 1 overall pick in last April's draft, Matthew Stafford, has not gotten off to a good start. He is the lowest-rated starting quarterback in the league and has thrown the most interceptions in the NFL (five). His task will get no easier this week against a Redskins defense that ranks 10th against the pass.

Though the Lions lost their first two games and were overmatched defensively at times, the former Steelers linebacker has made a difference. Foote has 19 tackles and a sack in two games and will be in attack mode again vs. a banged up Redskins offensive line that found out Monday that G Randy Thomas is out for the season with a torn triceps.

The betting trends for both teams are pretty brutal.
