Giants vs. Cowboys Point Spread: Fantasy Value for Tony Romo, Eli Manning, More

The Giants vs. Cowboys point spread had Dallas as a -4.5 home favorite though you can get this one at New York +5 at Sportsbook.ag for those of you wanting to back the Giants.  This is an important difference being that the Giants have not lost by more than five points in two of those recent three losses.

The Cowboys come into this game with a surprise 5-1 record.  Oddsmakers did not even have Dallas winning 7 regular season games on the totals betting futures back in August.

The Giants suffered a 0-27 loss in Philadelphia last week after winning three straight.

So which New York team shows up in this game and are the Cowboys really that good?

Let’s check out some fantasy previews for this game and the key players, among them being Eli Manning and Tony Romo.

In terms of Romo, he had one of his best games ever last week in Seattle.  It’s easy to see where a let down is possible following that performance.  He’ll face a Giants team this week that has permitted the ninth-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs, but also the ninth-most passing yards per game.

Because Dallas is allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing arms, Eli is likely to carry the offense due to a lack of the Giants running game.

The one bright spot for New York here is that Dallas’ success has come in part to facing off against teams with low-volume passing attacks.

Then there is DeMarco Murray, ranking atop the list of fantasy running backs and, at least on paper, he looks to have a monster day against a Giants team that has a rush defense allowing the 7th most fantasy points.

We should note that the Giants have done an admirable job of keeping opposing fantasy wide receivers in check and that might spell trouble for the Cowboys Dez Bryant in this one.

With Victor Cruz out for the Giants, expect Rueben Randle to become a top target for Manning.  But this week the production may be subdued by a Cowboys defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to receivers in addition to the 12th-fewest passing yards per game this season.
