Jets 2012 Odds: Darrelle Revis Sits Out Practice

The New Yorks Jets were listed with odds just short of 12/1 to win the 2012 – 2013 AFC Conference, and just short of 7/1 to win the AFC East at BetOnline heading into August.

Darrelle Revis’ discontent with his contract might have an early negative impact on the Jets ability to perform.

Revis sat out practice this weekend due to “a little tightness” in his right hamstring.

"Come on, it has nothing to do with it,” Revis insisted to the press.  “If I didn't want to be here, I would've held out."

But history tells us two years ago, when Revis was unhappy with his contract he did stage a mini-protest, admitting to the exaggeration of injuries.

ESPN.com noted that the All-Pro cornerback would've been subject to severe financial penalties by holding out -_ a $30,000-a-day fine and the forfeiture of a $1 million reporting bonus. Based on a clause in his contract, a holdout would've triggered a three-year extension for the modest total of $3 million a year.

Revis is an integral part of the Jets organization, having tied the longest interception return in Jets history last year.
