The San Francisco 49ers odds to win the NFC West were still quite good with a $200 payout potential for every $100 bet at Sports Interaction.  This week, San Francisco hosts Seattle, a team they beat once last season but have had a tough time against over the last 10 meetings, losing all but 3 games.  The Seahawks shut out St. Louis last weekend.

But San Francisco's performance last week in Arizona allows for plenty of hope for a fruitful season and the potential to win the NFC West division.

Shaun Hill's 3-yard touchdown pass to Frank Gore with 7:29 left in the game gave San Francisco its third win in its last nine meetings with Arizona.

Hill completed 18 of 31 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown and was sacked four times.

Larry Fitzgerald was held under 100 receiving yards.

The 49ers, who endured a brutal training camp under coach Mike Singletary, gave the coach a victory in his first opener after taking over for the fired Mike Nolan seven games into last season. It was Arizona's first loss to an NFC foe in two seasons.

"To come in their backyard, after everything they've accomplished, we knew it was going to be a tremendous challenge," Singletary said.

The public this week is backing Seattle by just over 70 percent.  Seattle was a -1 favorite at Sports Interaction.
