Two teams trying to get into the NFL betting playoff picture meet in Carolina on Thursday as the 4-5 Carolina Panthers host the 4-5 Miami Dolphins.  Both teams have been winning this season by running the ball but each of them will be missing key players for this game.

The Panthers are 3-point favorites with a total of 42.5 at SBG Global.

The Dolphins will be without running back Ronnie Brown in this game while Carolina will be without tackle Jordan Gross.  This matchup on Thursday is critical to both teams since the winner will move to .500. The Panthers are coming off a big win last week against Atlanta. "I think we were at a major crossroad in the season being 3-5," said receiver Muhsin Muhammad, "If you look at the playoff picture, we have as good a chance as anybody else with seven games left in the season."   Quarterback Jake Delhomme has not thrown an interception in the past three weeks and that is one reason why Carolina has won.  Another reason is the play of running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Losing All-Pro tackle Gross is going to hurt though. "He's a leader, a top-10 pick," Delhomme said "He was placed at tackle at the first minicamp and he hasn't left."

Miami is coming off a big win last week at Tampa Bay where they nearly threw the game away.  Quarterback Chad Henne threw a late interception that cost the team the lead but he led them back down the field for the winning score. They will have to win on Thursday without Ronnie Brown who was injured in the win.  Ricky Williams will take over the starting running back spot. "He's a good pro and knows that if Ronnie's not out there, his role is going to change," coach Tony Sparano said. "The guy carried the ball 20 times the other night. (We're) talking about a guy that led the league in rushing at one point. He gets it; he knows what he has to do."

Carolina and Miami have met three times in NFL betting history and the Dolphins have won all three games. The Dolphins are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as a road underdog. The Panthers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a home favorite.

The Over is 5-1 in the Dolphins last 6 games overall. The Under is 4-1 in the Dolphins last 5 road games. The Under is 4-0 in the Panthers last 4 games as a home favorite.
