UK based tabloid giant The Sun Newspaper have announced their intention to launch a brand new online sportsbook. Competing with Giants such as Bet365 and Ladbrokes, The sun Newspaper are hoping to take their share of a market worth billions with the launch of Sun Bet.

Tabcorp announced their intention to launch the new site late last year with an initial launch date of June 2016 in time for the Euro 2016 championships in France. However, various set backs has seen them delay the launch but hopefully the site will be up and running in time for the new football season which kicks off in the middle of August.

The Sun Newspaper is no stranger to the world of online gambling as they are responsible for one of the UKs most popular bingo brands 'Sun bingo'. Sun bingo was launched around 10 years ago and grew rapidly thanks to a strong media and TV advertising campaign which has seen it become one of the most search for bingo brands on Google UK. Alongside the bingo room the group also operate sun games which is a lesser known slots/casino games site which has been running for over a year now.

Although there has been very little in the way of official press releases from the company regarding the launch of sun bets we expect another media frenzy with plenty of print based advertising of the site and possible another TV heavy campaign similar to sun bingo. The Sun Newspaper has a readership of over 2,000,000 many of which are serious football fans. Exactly why it has taken such a potentially big player in the sports betting market to launch is a bit of a mystery especially given how they have been so successful with online bingo.
