Kentucky Derby Vegas Odds

The online gambling sector is not alone in its excitement over the 2010 Kentucky Derby and the countless amounts of money it brings in.  Vegas too will be expecting a massive Saturday.  (See Gambling911.com Sportsbooks for 2010 Kentucky Derby betting online here)

"This is a little bit earlier than normal," Jason McCormick, director of the Red Rock race and sports books, said of the early interest in Kentucky Derby wagering at his sportsbook. "I think people are looking for that thing to do this weekend. I think some of the stuff that's gone on with Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta has really gotten people interested in horse racing this year."

Online, Kentucky Derby traffic at Gambling911.com has been up slightly over last year for both Wednesday and Thursday.

Come Saturday, according to the Las Vegas Sun, nearly every race and sports book in town will have specials coinciding with the derby. Lucky's, which operates the race and sports books in the Plaza and Terrible's, is giving away free Kentucky Derby glasses with a $25 bet.

All Station Casinos are rewarding gamblers with a free Kentucky Derby hat with a $20 wager on the race.

But the real rewards for the sportsbooks will be the amount of money flowing in and, for customers, those tremendous payouts.

Last year's Mine That Bird was among the biggest long shots to ever win a Kentucky Derby and many experts suggest this year's race will feature a similar long shot win due to the expected heavy rainfall and muddy track.
