Mohaymen is the odds-on favorite at EVEN to win this year’s Florida Derby.

This year's race at Gulfstream Park is the most anticipated Florida Derby in decades with the best horse from each US coast challenging one another.

That other horse is Nyquist, with odds that would pay out slightly better than even at 6-5.

Doug O'Neill, Nyquist’ trainer, compares him with last year’s Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.

"American Pharoah had that amazing gate speed, tons of class and a lot of stamina," he said.  "Nyquist has all of that. I really think it's a matter of keeping him injury free, getting some racing luck and I can see some crazy things happening."

Mohaymen though is 5-0 in his career thus far.

"All eyes and ears will be watching," Mohaymen trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said. "You don't get this East-West, undefeated two colts, prior to the Kentucky Derby. Usually it's the Kentucky Derby where you get it. It's a shame that one of them is going to be defeated, but they're both top horses and it's great for our industry."

Both Mohaymen and Nyquist are almost certainly heading to this year’s Kentucky Derby barring an illness or injury.
