The Gotham Stakes is run on 11/16 miles (8.5 furlongs) of dirt and is open to horses three years of age.

This race features a purse of $400,000.  It is the final prep to the all important Wood Memorial and is a prep for the Kentucky Derby.

El Areeb comes in as the -225 favorite to win this year’s Gotham Stakes race.

Trained by Cathal Lynch the colt has four wins and a second place finish in six career starts.  He’s won by a combined 30 lengths.

Only two other entries have single digit odds: Cloud Computing (+750) and True Timber (9/1).
