Gun Runner has won the 2nd annual Pegasus World Cup in Hallendale, Florida's Gulfstream Park as the odds-on favorite.

This will be Gun Runner's last race. He had previously won the Breeders Cup Classic.

The 5-year-old, owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and Three Chimneys Farm, has been trained by Steve Asmussen.

Entering Saturday's race, the veteran trainer said Gun Runner’s performance in the Classic was “my strongest run to date of probably any horse.”

Gun Runner's performance at the Pegasus World Cup demonstrated why the 4-5 favorite was named "Horse of the Year".
