The 5-year-old mare is a winner of her last six races including three straight grade 1 races: The Clement H. Hirsch, Pacific Classic and, most recently, the Zenyatta Stakes.  She is seen as the greatest challenger to triple crown winner American Pharoah.

“If you watch her races, it’s not how far she wins by,” Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella said. “It’s the fact that Gary Stevens looks like an exercise boy, not a jockey. He just stands up and gallops her around there. I’ve never had horses that control a group like that.”

During the 2012-2013 period, Beholder became the first horse to win both the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and the Distaff in consecutive years.
