Jonathan Lintner writes of Brody’s Cause:

“A push-button, prototypical Derby horse,” as trainer Dale Romans often says, he is of the traditional Derby winner’s make. Brody’s Cause has the acceleration to carve through fields and a win over the Churchill Downs track. There’s little to question about him.

A multiple Grade I winner with a first-place finish over the Churchill Downs track has topped 90 on the Brisnet Speed Ratings.  Gun Runner dominated his opposition with a comfortable 4½-length tally in the March 26 Louisiana Derby.  The 12-1 price tag certainly has some value.

Brody’s Cause does not have a favorable post position as the 19 spot has resulted in a single win since 1999.

Another potential drawback, the competition may just be a little too much for Brody’s Cause, especially since he doesn’t have any edge out of the gate.
