Classic Empire at some books was listed at 2-1 odds, slashed from the opening number of 3-1.

Bookmaker was still offering Classic Empire at +265 for a payout potential of $26.50 on every $10 bet.

Like with the Kentucky Derby, this Preakness Stakes race is being billed as one between Derby winner Always Dreaming and 4th place finisher Classic Empire.

“It’s not a two-horse race,” Classic Empire trainer Mark Casse said. “There’s some other nice horses in this race. If there is too much concentration (on the two favorites) it could set it up for somebody else.”
