This Cubs-Pirates series that will take place over the next three days should be an interesting one as Chicago is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings.  To make matters more interesting, the Cubs are 10-1 in Jake Arrieta’s last eleven starts.

Arrieta (12-3) turned in his second straight subpar start, allowing four runs on eight hits in a loss to the Mets on Saturday. He struck out four and walked two.  It is hard to imagine a third straight poor outing from ace Arrieta, especially against a team he has had great success against in the past.

Arrieta has allowed 31 in 160 at bats versus the current Pirates roster.

Francisco Liriano has had a rough first half of the season, compiling a 5-8 record to go along with a 5.34 ERA through 16 starts.

A top favorite to win this year’s World Series, the Cubs have suffered through six losses in their last seven games. This may actually be helping to bring the price down for Friday’s game.

We will be on the Cubs and Arrieta -172 at BetOnline.

Stay away from the Cubs on Sunday.  Despite their stellar record versus the Pirates, probable starter John Lackey permitted 36 hits off of 112 at bats with four home runs.
