This year's Southern Gaming Summit is set to be held from May 2nd to May 4th in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The event marks the 24th annual meetup of members of the gaming industry and will host a variety of talks detailing the latest developments in the gaming world. With the networking opportunities available, a whole host of the industry's most important figures are sure to attend and enjoy a good helping of southern hospitality whilst catching up on all the most exciting new advancements in gaming including equipment, games, and hospitality.

One of the highlights of the event is sure to be the talk titled New Slot Games: Picking the Winners which is to be held on the Wednesday. From the event website, the description of this talk states that those attending this session "will hear their assessment of the new game landscape, what holds the most potential, which games continue to pay off and trends that may have seen their peak." There's no doubt there will be focus on some of the most exciting new games, which may include titles like the brand new Monopoly Big Event on Sun Bingo. This officially licensed slot is attempting to further bridge the gap between casual gaming and iGaming, attracting a wider audience with its 5 reel, 20 payline set up.

This game is a twist on the classic board game and includes recognisable features from Monopoly like the "Community Chest" and "Chance," and also offers players the choice between the regular mode and a "big bet" mode which raises the stakes but gives the chance of cashing out on a bigger prize. Other new games to watch are titles like Happy Birds - another twist on a familiar title, and Sheik Yer Money - a game based on the alluring promise of middle-eastern riches with enticing 1001 Arabian Nights style graphics.

The Future of Gaming talk is to be held on the last day of the event at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center, which also hosts concerts, sporting and family events. Attendees can expect to hear about how "consumer behavior, not to mention the gaming industry itself, has been profoundly altered by technology" in a talk that is likely to encompass the fascinating way in which the gaming world is rapidly evolving. Some of the new developments in the gaming world include live streaming in online casinos taking center stage on a number of websites, as well as new tech developments that can take them to the next level - including virtual and augmented reality. Other new developments in the gaming world include things like multisensory slot games. This new technology gives players a much more immersive gaming experience, placing them inside a virtual world that was not possible with traditional slot machines. New HD touchscreen slot machines are also giving casinos a much sleeker look to their slots.

On the final day of the summit there will be a talk entitled Tribal Gaming: Legal and Regulatory Update. The legal history of tribal gaming in the United States is a fascinating one and has given hope to disenfranchised nations of Native Americans. In 1972, a couple by the name of Helen and Russel Bryan who lived on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota were taxed $29.85 in personal property tax for their small trailer home. This tax set off a chain of events which changed the face of Native American life in the States. They opposed this tax, and the case was taken up by multiple different legal aid attorneys, eventually making its way to the Supreme Court in 1976 in Bryan v. Itasca County.

This case set a legal precedent which meant that the state was unable to officially regulate Indian territories. On the precedent set in this case, Native American Nations across the United States built up a substantial gaming industry which eventually turned out to be the most profitable venture consistently achieved by different Nations, allowing them to regain some of their sovereignity. Attendees of the talk are expected to be brought up to date with the most recent updates in legislation regarding Tribal Gaming in the United States.

The Southern Gaming Summit is an unmissable event for anyone in the industry wanting to get a step up in the latest developments and make lasting connections with top people in the gaming world. You can find more information on the event on the official website.
