It’s a battle for the number 5 spot of the world’s largest online poker rooms between Ongame and Cereus, the later of which is home to Gambling911.com flagship sponsor UB.com.

Cereus had taken over the 5th spot a few weeks ago but Ongame scored a significant coup by bringing on Betfair into the mix.  Betfair is Europe’s largest betting exchange but had languished in the bottom 20 in recent months, mostly a result of being part of a poorly managed network.

Gambling911.com notes that OnGame lost around 1000 average real cash players over the past 6 months based on monitoring by PokerScout.com.  They appear to have regained around three quarters of that traffic with the Betfair partnership that began just over a week ago. An even bigger winner perhaps appears to be Betfair itself, which is now incorporated into Ongame’s tallies.

Ongame’s boost was such that they actually now threaten the number 4 online poker network iPoker.

At press time, Ongame was averaging around 700 real cash players more than UB.com and approximately 900 less than iPoker.

UB.com anticipates a boost in overall customers in the next few weeks through its Online Poker Championship tournament and promo with a prize pool of $280,000.
