Doyle Brunson Pushing to Have ‘Devilfish’ Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame

There are few players in the world of poker who carry more clout than iconic Doyle Brunson.

So when Brunson started his campaign to have fellow player Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott inducted into the next Poker Hall of Fame voting cycle, many have stood up and taken notice.  Brunson just happens to have the biggest Twitter following outside of Dan Bilzerian within the world of poker.

Ulliott was diagnosed with bowel cancer in February.  The British poker player is determined to battle the disease.

"It is just one of those things," he said.  "It is a hand that life has thrown at me. All my life I have had rubbish hands and I have managed to turn them around. It is what I am good at and this is no different."

While Ulliott hasn’t exactly been given a death sentence, Brunson wants to ensure the British pro is alive to attend his inevitable induction into Poker’s Hall of Fame.

He tweeted this weekend:

If Devilfish has bad health problems, maybe we should try to get him in the Poker Hall Of Fame now

Close to 200 of Brunson’s followers had since retweeted the message.

Hundreds of folks from across the globe have sent Ulliott well wishes.

Mr Ulliott said: "It is hard to believe that a good looking, smooth talking guy like me can get this response from dying.

"If I had known I would have done it a long time ago.

"I have been positive all my life.

"I don't think cancer has any chance of taking me."

Ulliott’s poker earnings to date amount to $6,218,294.
