Gone in 60 Minutes’ Tournaments at Americas Cardroom Up The Thrill

It turns out the early bird really does get the worm. Or the fish, in the case of one online poker site's new tournament format. Americas Cardroom today announced the launch of new Gone in 60 Minutes Tournaments.

The new tournament format features a shortened late registration window. With the new tournaments, registration closes after 60 minutes.

“Late registration tournaments have armed players with extra time to boost their bankroll, but we've listened to a growing segment of our community who want shorter late registration times,” said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. “Starting July 8th, we're excited to introduce a new tournament format with 1-hour late registration. Our regular late-registration tournaments will remain on the schedule, so there's always something for everyone."

Gone in 60 Minutes Tournaments are available in guarantees ranging from $100 to $1,500. The tournaments will feature the same structure and levels as traditional tournaments that have the longer registration window.

The 1-hour late registration window means that players only have one hour to buy in, show up and take their seat. It also means that any rebuys or re-entries will no longer be available after the first hour.

Harris notes that the tournament schedule will see some existing 3-hour late registration tournaments replaced with the shorter 60-minute format, while some will remain as is. New tournaments will also be added to the schedule.

Americas Cardroom's hallmark tournaments, including the weekly $50,000, the $115,000 Sunday Special and Million Dollar Sunday, will keep their existing late registration format.
