Poker Pro Alex Jacob Moves to Final on ‘Jeopardy!, ‘What is Aleve’

Poker pro Alex Jacob is vying to win this year’s Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions and he just moved one step closer with a victory Tuesday night.  Now one of the quiz show’s most popular contestants moves onto the finals.

Jacob, a stock trader from Chicago, faced off against Brennan Bushee and Vaughn Winchell on Tuesday.

With the final question and the most money, Alex guessed “What is Aleve” when posed the question in the category “African Countries”: “These 2 6-letter countries rhyming countries derive their names from rivers & were once controlled by rivers”.

The correct answer, for which neither contestant (certainly not Alex), got right was:

“What is Zambia and Gambia”.

Vaughn and Brennan both wrote down Rwanda and Uganda. Host Alex Trebek said they kind of rhyme but are not named for rivers while Rwanda gained its independence from Belgium.

Alex finished in the lead with $28,200. Brennan was next with $11,600 and Vaughn was in third place with $8,000.
