European Poker Tour Awards Half a Billion Euros to Players in First Nine Seasons

Chow Defeats Record Field at Majestic Star

Gary, IN – Bob Chow was outnumbered at Monday’s Heartland Poker Tour Final Table at Majestic Star Casino Hotel in Gary, Indiana. Of the nine players who ascended to the top of the 520-player field, the 53-year-old from Schaumberg, Illinois was the only pro player.

New Season 10 European Poker Tour Changes Include New High Roller Scheduling

It was announced this week that there will be changes to Season 10 of the European Poker Tour that include extended later registration, high-roller scheduling, additional non-no-limit hold'em events, and payouts.

PokerStars Live Events Specialist Neil Johnson also confirmed that late registrations for high roller events will be extended to the beginning of the second day.

Alan Gold Wins Full Tilt Poker UKIPT Galway Main Event for €187,494

Scottish poker payer Alan Gold has won the 2013 Full Tilt Poker UKIPT Galway Main Event and the €187,494 that comes with it.  This is Gold’s biggest win on the live poker circuit.

Gold entered the final table as chip leader and maintained that dominating lead throughout.

As a consolation prize, Gold also has free entries to all the remaining stops for the fourth season of the UKIPT

Full Tilt Poker Galway Festival - UKIPT Main Event – Final Table 2013

The Full Tilt Poker Galway Festival – UKIPT Main Event – Final Table for 2013 has been set with some unfamiliar names.

Christy Morkan – Ireland’s own has been primarily a recreational player up to this point.

As much as we would love to have Christy be a woman at the final table, Christy is a man and somewhat of a local legend in fact.  Morkan has played live for 10 years and does not play online.  He has 695,000 chips to kick off the final table.

More Than $1.9 Million Won in the First Two Days of FTOPS XXIII

A Look at The 2013 WSOP Main Event Top 20

Poker players from the USA made up the brunt of those who remained in this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event, but a number of other nations were well represented.

Canadian Marc McLaughlin led with the largest number of chips at press time.  He was one of two players from Canada still remaining, the other being Alexander Livingston.  While Brazil had Bruno Kawauti, he is also listed occasionally as coming to us from Canada.

JC Tran Among Chip Leaders at 2013 WSOP: Glazier Makes Big Move

Big name pro JC Tran was among the top 3 chip leaders early in the evening Sunday as the last woman standing was on the ropes, though we had some good news just for Jackie Glazier as this was going to press.

The WSOP tweeted:

.@JackieGlazier's Main Event hopes still alive as she doubles through Jack Amyx when her JJ bests his AK.

Glazier, though, was near the bottom of the chip count with just 37 left.  And just moments before this went to press, Glazier shot up into the top 25

2013 WSOP Getting Down to the Wire: Last Woman Sitting Jackie Glazier

68 players remained at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event heading into Sunday’s play.  There also remains only one female, that being Australia’s Jackie Glazier, following Annette Obrestad’s elimination late Saturday.

While the World Series of Poker Main Event was dwindling down below 100, most of those remaining are relative unknowns, but a few big name players can be found among the bunch. 

Annette Obrestad - The first ever World Series of Poker Europe winner comes to us from Norway.  She won the 2007 WSOPE at the tender age of 18.  Now over 21, she can participate in World Series of Poker events on US soil.  Obrestad was going strong among the top 40 Saturday night.  Ms. Obrestad represents Lock Poker.

Doyle Brunson Continues to Hold His Own at WSOP Main Event

Slipping a few notches to the lower tier of the 70’s in terms of chip counts, the Texas Dolly, Doyle Brunson, was still among the more successful players kicking off Friday’s play of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event.  77 out of 649 ain’t too shabby after all.

2013 World Series of Poker Main Event: Greg Merson Watch

Day 2A/B of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event championship was filled with plenty of highlights, disappointments, and dramatic moments.  The day belonged to a number of new names and faces, as well as some superstars who are intimately familiar to everyone who enjoys playing and following the game.

Of the 562 players who survived, perhaps the biggest story of the day was the major move by the defending World Champion, Greg Merson.  He arrived on this day well above the chip average, at 81,650.  By day's end, he bagged up a stack amounting to 275,600.

Attendance Records Set at 2013 World Series of Poker: Record 79,471 Entries Overall

LAS VEGAS – The 44th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas established a host of new records as poker enthusiasts from 106 nations traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the game’s grandest spectacle. The WSOP remained the industry standard-bearer, with 79,471 entries in 62 events and awarding the second largest prize pool in WSOP history: $197,041,468.

Big Name Busts at the 2013 WSOP Main Event

Day 1b of the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event got underway on Sunday and there were already some notable eliminations.

Saying “Good Bye” after Day 1a play included the likes of funnyman Jason Alexander, Soi Nguyen, Abe Mosseri, TJ Cloutier, Chino Rheem, Sopranos actor Robert Iler, Sam Barnhart, and 2011 Main Event Champ Pius Heinz.

Matthew Ashton Wins 2013 WSOP $50,000 Poker Players Championship

UK poker player Matthew Ashton has won the 2013 World Series of Poker $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship Friday.  This is his 3rd first place finish and 1st WSOP bracelet.

Ashton walks away with $1,774,089 for his efforts.  Don Nguyen of Chino Hills, California, had led much of the way and managed to finish second with $1,096,254.

Poker Player May Have Used Funds From Casino Heist to Enter WSOP

Jonathan Duhamel, David Benyamine at Final Table of Poker Players Championship

Poker superstars Jonathan Duhamal (the 2010 WSOP Main Event champ) and David Benyamine were among those making the final table of the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship heading into Thursday.

All eyes were on relative unknown, Don Nguyen, however.  He enters the day with a rather large chip lead.
