From TSN:

The Super Bowl of Horse Races. Usually, the Horse of the Year comes from this race. Last year Curlin was a convincing winner and gained Horse of the Year honours. He is the prohibitive favourite again, but having seen his previous two races, I feel he can be beaten this year. If this was on normal dirt, I wouldn't even have to do a prediction. Curlin will win hands down, but its on the new surface and only time will tell how he makes out.

Lucky Lucc's Picks: (1) Duke of Marmalade (2) Curlin (3) Go Between
Lucky Lucc's Longshot: Colonel John

Backstretch Burroughs Selections: (1) Go Between (2) Curlin (3) Colonel John
Longshot: Tiago

Rip's Picks NJ.com:

1 - CURLIN is just too tough to pick against despite his debut on the Pro-Ride track. The Horse-of-the-Year is 11-15 in his career, the top money earner of all time and excels at 1 1/4 miles with a 6-for-7 record. His only loss this year was when he tried the turf, hit the gate and fell far back early. Curlin won the Classic last year by 4 1/2 in the slop at Monmouth and has been an odds-on favorite in all six races this year.

2 - GO BETWEEN has the best chance of an upset after beating pacesetter Well Armed in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic. He has not been out of the exacta in six synthetic track efforts, but has had lot of gaps in his schedule this year.

3 - COLONEL JOHN has been rested for this and has not been off the board on artificial tracks. He also is 3-for-3 at Santa Anita.

4 - CASINO DRIVE looked like the main threat to Big Brown's sweep of the Triple Crown in the Belmont, but scratched out of the race only to have now-retired Big Brown toss in the only loss in his career. Yet Casino Drive, despite the breeding to win this and a 3-for-3 record, is short on experience to tackle this field.

And Barry Werner PA SportsTicker Staff Writer:

1. CURLIN: Absolutely no bargain at 7-5 on the morning line in first race over a synthetic surface. Did everything he had to do in order to convince the connections this was the right decision. A superhorse deserving of more mainstream accolades. This is the chance to strut his stuff. Ran his eyeballs out winning this race last year and posting a 119 Beyer. He didn't win in his first trip over the turf. Hopefully, his first try as a synner will produce different results! Is 6-for-7 at the distance with a third. Let the bettor beware!

2. GO BETWEEN: A synner, going 3-3-0 in six career starts over the synthetic. Shows a first and second at Santa Anita this year. Will be a threat late. If the top pick has a problem with the surface, this 5-year-old can gallop away with all the headlines.

3. DUKE OF MARMALADE: Had won five straight this year before running into Zarkava in the Arc, where he finished seventh. Still, has won $2.2M this year. Merits consideration.

Hopefully these 2008 Breeders' Cup Predictions pan out as the payouts will be astronomical in some cases.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
