2008 Summer Olympics Men's swimming odds have everyone placing bets on their favorite national representative from the USA to France to Australia.

Eamon Sullivan of Australia had even odds to win the Men's Swimming 50 m freestyle at Betonline.com which was offering betting odds on all the swimming events Wednesday afternoon until starting time at 10:00 pm EST.

Eamon Sullivan broke the previous record held by "the most hated man in America right now" Alain Bernard....for about two minutes. Sullivan swam in 47.05 seconds. Bernard had beaten the previous record just minutes before the next swimming event featuring Australia's Sullivan.

The Americans were more than thrilled to see Sullivan snatch the record right from under Bernard after the Frenchman claimed prior to the start of the 2008 Summer Olympics "We (France) are going to smash the Americans (in swimming)."

Better keep your day job Jerky! The United States has dominated in swimming for the most part, led by uber swimmer Michael Phelps and he will be looking to break every record in the book starting again Wednesday night (Thursday morning in China).

And gamblers finally have a chance to get Phelps at some pretty solid value. He was listed as the -255 favorite to win the 100 M Butterfly. That would require a $25.50 bet to win $10, but considering he was listed up to -5000 in previous swims, this could be considered the "bet of a lifetime".

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
