Falcons vs. Saints

An analysis of the Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints game from Scouts.com and just what this one means to both teams:

" This is a key NFC South matchup because both teams are battling for a chance to play in the postseason. The Saints are hanging by a thread, but they return to New Orleans with their high-powered passing attack and a healthy RB Reggie Bush. The Falcons' defense must continue to show improvement and keep QB Drew Brees from turning this game into a track meet. Last week, the Falcons' defense made a strong statement by shutting down the Chargers' passing game on the road. The Saints will be looking for revenge after Atlanta won the first game between these two teams back in November -- despite the Saints' 521 yards of offense."

This is a very important game to be sure.

The Saints have won four of the past five matchups to trim the Falcons' overall series lead to 44-34, but this is a "new look" and very much improved Falcons team.

The Atlanta Falcons keep on winning, entering the season's home stretch in the driver's seat for a surprising playoff berth in the NFC.

And important stat to take note of is that the Saints are 6-0 ATS following a Straight Up loss over the last 6 games.  They are a -3 favorite with the home team having gone 7-3 in this series over the last 10.  New Orleans has also gone 6-4.  And they have won 4 of the last 5 though they got pummeled by Atlanta on the road last month 20-34.

Gambling911.com predicts that New Orleans will come back to win this one covering the -3 spread.

Here are some NFC clinching scenarios to ponder:

New York Giants -- Can clinch playoff spot with tie plus Falcons loss, or Falcons tie plus Buccaneers loss.

Can clinch NFC East title with win, or tie and and Cowboys loss or tie.

Can clinch a first-round bye with win, or tie and Cowboys loss or tie, or Cowboys loss plus Vikings loss or tie plus Cardinals loss or tie.

Arizona Cardinals -- Can clinch NFC West title with win, or tie and 49ers loss, or 49ers loss.

Eliminated -- Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
