Ball State

Ball State managed to beat Navy decisively against the spread 35-23. Despite Ball State being the big -7 ½ favorite early on (line moved down to -6 ½ at betED.com) most of the betting action went towards Navy. Even at -6 ½, more than 75 percent of the public was on Navy.

Likewise, the Over 58.5 had nearly 90 percent of the betting action. And just to demonstrate how sharp some of these odds makers are, the game total fell on the 58. Ouch!!!!

An ex-Marine helped Ball State's defense scuttle the Navy.

Nate Davis passed for 326 yards and four touchdowns, but it was Brandon Crawford and the rest of the Cardinals' defense that repeatedly came up with the big plays in the second half of a 35-23 victory over the Midshipmen on Friday night.

"It's a great feeling, but at the same time I had to let my teammates know what's expected of them," said Crawford, a 32-year-old defensive end who served four years in the Marines. "Me being the leader, I told them we were going to keep doing the things that mattered.

Navy was the most bet on team throughout much of Friday, offering up a nice win for the bookmakers after a devastating loss Thursday night where the public made out big on the New York Giants.

The bookmakers enjoyed a modest win the other night, however, with Vanderbilt's shock upset over South Carolina whereby 70 percent of bets were on SC.  Oddsmakers had the total on this game set at 41 and that's exactly where it fell.
