Analysts at BetUS.com have written extensively on the Cotto Pacquiao fight.  These are the folks that are posting the odds, and for the most part the odds have stayed steady with only small movements since this fight was announced.

Pacquiao is still looked upon by many as the world's best pound-for-pound fighter, and the streets of Manila are empty when he climbs into the ring. Pacquiao was a pro at age 16, and took some lumps early, as he suffered a third-round KO loss to Rustico Torrecampo, but he won the WBC flyweight title in 1998 as he knocked out Chatchai Sasakul.

In his last fight Pacquiao started to cash in on his newfound super-stardom with a fight against Ricky Hatton, and pummeled Hatton for almost two full rounds before Ricky went down and out. It was an utter mismatch, and left people wondering if there was no weight division that was out of his reach. Now he's advancing to the welterweight division, trying for a title in his fourth weight class, in a career that started at 106 pounds.

Despite the fact that Manny Pacquiao (-300 to win in the BetUS boxing betting odds) is the fighter considered by most to be either the #1 or #2 fighter in the mythical "pound-for-pound" category, please keep in mind that this fight is for Miguel Angel Cotto's WBO welterweight title. I would suspect that the winner is going to be in for an even bigger prize; when all is said and done, there will probably be a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on the horizon.

When Pacquiao moves up in weight, as he's doing here, I guess it is natural to ask whether he is biting off more than he can chew.

Early in his career, Cotto played the part of the aggressor, the stalker, the destroyer, and that is much easier to do when your opponent does not have the artillery to fight back with much firepower. At some point, however, the chin must be tested, and that has been where Cotto's had some hairy moments. One of the most stunning of these moments came against DeMarcus Corley (a southpaw like Pacquiao) who was by no means a banger, nailed Cotto on the button and had him flopping around all over the place.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
