Dunkirk Betting Odds

Dunkirk's 2009 Kentucky Derby betting odds were listed at +400 at betED.com just one week prior to the start of the big race.   Most oddsmakers believed early on this was the horse to beat after I Want Revenge.  The payout would be $400 for every $100 bet.

Dunkirk breezed five furlongs in 1:01.05 at the Palm Meadows Training Center in Florida in company with stablemate Munnings.

"I was very, very pleased with the work," trainer Todd Pletcher said. "He started out about a length and a half or two lengths behind the other horse, then he finished up about a half-length ahead. It was a very good move for him."

Trained by Todd Pletcher, the roan/gray son of Unbridled's Song seemed to be guaranteed a berth in the Kentucky Derby field, which is limited to 20 based on graded-stakes earnings.

Gambling911.com is forecasting the 2009 Kentucky Derby to be its most trafficked betting event of the year.

Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
