French Open Men’s Semi Final Betting Odds

A huge day is on tap in Paris as Roger Federer looks to move one step closer to winning the 2009 French Open for the first time.  French Open Men's Semi Final betting odds had Federer as a near even favorite at -150 requiring a US$150 bet to win US$100 (the initial bet plus winnings are paid should Federer walk away victorious).

Can he beat Juan Martin del Potro (+600 or 6/1 odds) and reach the final? The other semi-final sees Fernando Gonzalez (+400 or 4/1 odds) face Robin Soderling (+600 or 6/1 odds).

From USA Today:

Second-ranked Federer is a collective 26-1 against the remaining semifinalists and hasn't lost a set in five meetings against his opponent today, No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro.

"I have a good record against him, but it doesn't mean a thing right now because it's too big of a match, too dangerous, and he's playing too well at this tournament to underestimate him," says Federer.

The other semifinal pits the unlikely pairing of No. 12 seed Fernando Gonzalez vs. No. 23 Robin Soderling, who rocked the tournament with his fourth-round slaying of Rafael Nadal.

Soderling, 24, had never been past the third round at any major before this week.

The 6-3 Swede is the in-form player, having punched past high quality clay-courters David Ferrer, Nikolay Davydenko, and, most of all, the formerly undefeated at Roland Garros four-time champion Nadal.

"Who can even guess what Soderling is going to do next?" ESPN analyst Darren Cahill says.
