LSU vs. South Carolina football odds opened at LSU -3 ½ after their shock loss last week. The line has since moved to -2 at SBG Global. 77 percent of the betting public was on LSU.

LSU (4-1, 2-1) dropped nine spots after a 51-21 pounding at then-No.11 Florida last Saturday in a game pitting the two most recent national champions. It was the Tigers' most-lopsided loss since falling 31-0 to Alabama in 2002, while allowing their most points since Steve Spurrier's Gators beat them 56-13 in 2006.

For anyone who thinks that LSU is done, consider this: LSU is 22-3 Straight Up in their last 25 games. Unfortunately for them, the Gamecocks rank third in the country in total defense.

"I think our team will respond very favorably to what was a showing that we could have played better," said LSU coach Lee Miles, whose team hosts No. 10 Georgia next week. "It's going to be a great one for our football team to go to South Carolina and play well on the road. We need to come out and play well from the start."

South Carolina had enough in a 24-17 victory over Kentucky last Saturday. Redshirt freshman Stephen Garcia replaced ineffective starter Chris Smelley and went 10-for-14 for 169 yards and one touchdown. Garcia, who is 23-for-35 for 300 yards this season is expected to make his first start Saturday.

One needs to consider that in this series over the past three games since 2002, LSU has gone 3-0. They have beaten the Gamecocks by at least 12 points.

It should be noted that the Sagarin ratings have South Carolina able to win in this situation by 1 point.
