Martin Kaymer Would Pay $8500 on a $100 Bet With Players Championship Win

By Thursday evening, German golfer Martin Kaymer sat atop The Players Championship leaderboard.  He had huge odds of winning at 85-1 early on. His odds should still be decent come Friday morning and can be locked in here.

Why the long odds is a mystery considering Kaymer has won a PGA Championship.

He tied the course record with a 9-under 63 to take a two-shot lead.

Justin Rose at early 22-1 odds was among the top five on the leaderboard coming into Friday.  Lee Westwood was also in the top five and had 33-1 odds of winning it all.

You can still bet on this year’s Players Championship before and after play through Sunday morning here.

1 Martin Kaymer

2 Russell Henley

3 Sang-Moon Bae

4 Lee Westwood

5 Justin Rose

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
