Michael Phelps Odds to Win Gold at London Olympics: Excellent Betting Value

Michael Phelps odds to win the gold medal at this year’s London Olympics were pretty good at 1/2 to win a gold medal (8/5 odds were available on Phelps not winning one).  These odds were available at Sportsbook here.

Phelps has some pretty stiff competition in fellow American Ryan Lochte, who was listed at 4/9 odds to win a gold medal

Phelps is a betting favorite in five of seven swimming events.  He won eight of eight in the last Olympics, hence the reason the 1/2 odds of winning a gold medal had such great value

These are betting odds featured across the board with numbers varying.  Most wagering options available at Sportsbook here.

Favored:

200 meter individual medley: Phelps is the -120 (bet $120 to win $100). Teammate Ryan Lochte is +100.

100 butterfly: Phelps is -275

200 butterfly: Phelps is -500

4 x 100 medley relay: USA is -200

4 x 200 freestyle relay: USA is -400

Underdog:

400 individual medley: Phelps is +125. Lochte is the -120 favorite.

4 x 100 freestyle relay: USA is +225 behind Australia at -138

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
