Miguel Cotto vs. Joshua Clottey Fight Odds

Miguel Cotto vs. Joshua Clottey fight odds for Saturday night's big bout had Cotto as a comfortable -350 favorite.  Joshua Clottey would pay out nearly $300 for every $100 bet at Bookmaker.com.

With this one slated to take place at Madison Square Garden, one would think that Cotto might have home advantage being that he lives right next store in the Bronx.  Think again.

"Having moved from his native Ghana to pursue his boxing career as his more famous countrymen Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey did before him, he will be the enemy come fight time (HBO, 10:35 p.m. ET)," writes Dan Rafael of ESPN.com.

Cotto's opponent comes from Puerto Rico and they'll be fighting on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

"Cotto's countrymen have turned out in droves to support his fights, singing, dancing, waving flags and, of course, booing the opponent," Rafael points out.

"I know all the Puerto Ricans will be there," Clottey said. "It is the day before the Puerto Rican parade, and there are going to be a lot there. But I can't worry about that because when I get into the ring, it will be just Cotto. Those people can always say something and I can say something back, but they will never be hit. All their screaming and shouting, you don't even hear it. I just protect myself and come out good and open up. I am not worried about that."

Said Vinny Scolpino, Clottey's manager, "Josh is a determined guy. He'll hear them cheering for Cotto, and he'll smile and laugh. It's no big deal. And when the bell rings, he will do his business."

Whether this translates into a win or not for Clottey remains to be seen.  It would be an upset, however, and present a big pay day for those betting on the underdog

This was not a heavily bet on bout Saturday afternoon, according to Bookmaker.com, which had a number of the days baseball games getting more action.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
