The Minnesota Timberwolves come to the Meadowlands Friday to face off against the New Jersey Nets.  Odds on this matchup opened at Nets -6 ½ at Bookmaker.com.

What do the bettors need to know regarding this game?

First off, Minnesota may be in a downward spiral facing a reinvigorated Nets team, but the Timberwolves are 8-1 ATS in its last 9 games when playing New Jersey.

Straight Up and on the road against the Nets is an entirely different story. The Timberwolves are 1-7 SU in its last 8 games when playing on the road against New Jersey.

Coming off their worst home defeat of the season, the Nets look to bounce back against the lowly Timberwolves on Friday night.

New Jersey (9-8) has been respectable overall this season, but has struggled at home. The Nets have gone 3-5 at the IZOD Center, scoring less than 90 points four times.

The Nets endured a terrible loss against a terrible team, the Washington Wizards, Tuesday night at home.   The final score was 108-88.

Devin Harris, the NBA Player of the Week last week, was disappointed with New Jersey's effort.

"We have a small margin of error as a team and we need to give more than a decent effort if we want to win," Harris said. "We made two steps forward and now one big step back. When we struggle to make shots, we're going to have a tough time winning games."

The Timberwolves have lost three straight overall, allowing 102.0 points per game.  They have lost their last two games during this East Coast road trip.  Gambling911.com expects this game to be closer than the 10 and 11 point losses in Charlotte and Orlando, respectively.

The preference here for us is to stay on the sidelines as we're not entirely comfortable New Jersey can win by more than the allocated 6 points.  We do suggest throwing the Nets into a teaser with some other teams, however.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
