Central Michigan will be making their third straight appearance in the Motor City Bowl as they host Florida Atlantic on Friday.  Although Central Michigan has the better record at 8-4 it may be Florida Atlantic that is playing better entering this game.  The Chippewas have lost two straight games while the Owls have won five of their last six games after starting the season 1-5. Their latest win was a 57-50 overtime win over Florida International that got them bowl eligible.

SBG Global reports that early College Football betting has the public taking Central Michigan at Home.

Florida Atlantic may have to score more than 50 points again if they expect to defeat Central Michigan.  The Chippwewas were 24th in the country with 427.1 yards per game.  Quarterback Dan LeFevour was third in the MAC with 253.1 passing yards per game.  He was the Motor City Bowl MVP two years ago.  Antonio Brown caught 82 passes for 906 yards and six touchdowns for the Chippewas.

Florida Atlantic won the New Orleans Bowl last season and head coach Howard Schnellenberger is 5-0 all-time in bowl games. "It is a great feeling for us to be invited to play in the Motor City Bowl, and a personal thrill for me to be taking FAU to Detroit," Schnellenberger said. "For us to become bowl eligible and to be invited again following our first bowl game last year gives this program tremendous promise."  The Owls are led by quarterback Rusty Smith who led the Sun Belt with 2,918 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Here are the College Football betting stats for Friday's game. The Owls are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a win.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
