The Pittsburgh Penguins feel they have outplayed the Detroit Red Wings for most of the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals, yet they trail 2-0. "I think we outplayed them," Penguins defenseman Hall Gill said. "Last year, we got outplayed pretty badly."  The Penguins host the Red Wings in Game 3 on Tuesday in a must-win situation.  History is definitely not on the side of the Penguins.  A total of 32 teams have lost the first two Stanley Cup Finals games on the road and 31 of those teams ended up losing the series.

SBG Global reports that early Hockey betting has the public taking Penguins at Home.

Before this series began the Penguins were thought to have the edge on offense with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin while Detroit had the edge on defense.  It was thought that the goaltending would be pretty equal. So far the Penguins superstar duo has done nothing, Detroit's defense has been great and Chris Osgood has totally outplayed Marc Andre Fleury.  In fact, Osgood has probably been the best player in the series so far.  He doesn't think the series is over though. "They (Pittsburgh) were good last year, but they're making smarter plays than last year," Osgood said. "They've given us everything we can handle in two games. We're up 2-0, but I think we can play better."

Osgood has been simply fantastic in the Stanley Cup Finals throughout his career.  He is now 10-2 with a 1.47 goals against average in the Finals.

"I think they're goalie was their best player," Pittsburgh forward Pascal Dupuis said.

Detroit is trying for their fifth Cup in 12 seasons and their 12th overall.

"They're a good team," Pittsburgh forward Chris Kunitz said. "They've shown that for the last 10, 12 years."

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
