Hot Dog Eating Champion Arrested

This year's Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest was like no other.

Joey Chestnut's 4th win in a row was overshadowed somewhat by the arrest of former champion Takeru Kobayashi at the event.

Kobayashi refused to partake in the competitive eating contest, claiming that he was being forced to sign a "too stringent" contract prohibiting him from entering similar non-sanctioned events.

The six-time champion of the contest was trying to make his way on stage after this year's event, according to a representative for Kobayashi and a New York police officer at the Brooklyn precinct booking desk.

Kobayashi was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest.

Kobayashi was being held at a police precinct in Brooklyn, and it was unclear whether he had a lawyer or when he might have bail set.

Chestnut consumed 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes to win the 95th annual event.  He was a heavy favorite to win at most online sportsbooks including BetUS.com, which listed Chestnut at -300.
