Since the post time draw on Monday there have been a total of four scratches.

Continuar, one of the Japanese horses in the Derby, is the third horse to be scratched on Thursday.

With Skinner later scratched, this year's Kentucky Derby field has dwindled down to 19.

The scratch deadline was 9 a.m. EDT Friday, so no other horses can be added to the field.

Well, on Saturday morning more bad news as it was announced that the favorite, Forte, had been scratched.

The decision to remove Forte was made following a Saturday morning workout, with trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Mike Repole seen meeting with a state racing commission veterinarian afterward.

It was not immediately clear why Forte had been scratched.

This year's Kentucky Derby field is now down to 18 as a result.
