The College Football Playoff Championship game is set.  Michigan got the job done in the Rose Bowl and awaited the winner of the Sugar Bowl.  Washington would go on to win 37-31 and they are on their way to Houston to play for the national title.

SportsBetting.ag made Michigan a favorite against both Texas and Washington early. Against the Longhorns, Michigan would have opened as a -3 favorite.  The line on Washington vs. Michigan had the Wolverines as a -6 point favorite.

RB Blake Corum’s 17-yard run in overtime gave the Wolverines a 27-20 win over Alabama in the Rose Bowl. It’s the first win in three straight College Football Playoff appearances for the Wolverines as the team looks for its first national title since 1997.

The Texas-Michigan spread already shifted a half point after opening Wolverines -3.5.

Michigan was in the College Football Playoff for the third straight season but still seeking its first win.  Prior to their win against Alabama, the Wolverines had not won a national championship since 1997.

"This game means so much to me, and I have superstition like back in hockey like they do with the Stanley Cup," JJ McCarthy revealed after being questioned as to he ran across the field to get his rose. "I didn't touch it all week and I just was waiting for this moment to be able to put it in my mouth."

"Great way to start the new year off," Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh said after the game.  "Glorious. That was glorious. It was a tremendous football game."

Bookies made out big with Michigan a -2.5 favorite and around 65% of the action coming in on Alabama.

"Not nearly the big loss the book is looking at with Alabama wins, but Washington +3.5 and ML are still significant liabilities," BetOnline said ahead of the Sugar Bowl game. "77.3% of sharps betting the spread are on the Longhorns. Here is the current CFP betting split for tonight’s CPF semifinal game."
